Integration pathway: Medina
It is within her shop that we meet Medina, thirty (30) years old, a hairdresser. In 2020, she embarked on an aesthetics training with Caritas that will last for a year (nine months of training and three months of internship), during which she learns to braid, apply makeup, perform pedicure treatments, and apply nails.
She recounts that aesthetics is a true vocation for her because before her father, a mechanic trainer and security man at the training center, informed her about the training offered by Caritas, Medina says she used to braid her niece to occupy her days.
Having not gone beyond the Brevet, it is with the help of her parents that she was able to open her salon eight months ago upon completing her training.
However, she explains that only occasionally, during festivities, does she manage to have clients. That's why she aims to expand her shop and collaborate with activities related to what she does, such as hiring a woman skilled in henna so that clients can come to her for all beauty preparations for a wedding, for example.
She would like to establish a real "beauty complex." Nevertheless, she reports that she faces some difficulty because women no longer want to spend much time braiding as before; they prefer to wear wigs and now prioritize makeup.
Medina explains that she would have liked to have received more specialized training in skincare and makeup to better meet current demand.
So, Medina turns to the internet to address her shortcomings. However, she admits that, thanks to Caritas, she was able to strengthen her knowledge and start earning her own money to meet her needs and invest in veils that she sells in her shop.
