Awa's Triumph: From Self-Taught Hairstylist to Accomplished Esthetician
At twenty-four (24) years old, Awa is a young hairstylist we meet in her mother's small salon, which generously provides her space to braid her clients. Having dropped out of school after the third grade, she starts braiding clients. But in 2022, thanks to word of mouth, she learns about the existence of Caritas, where she submits her application.
There, she learns the basics of aesthetics: braiding, as well as makeup and everything related to aesthetics. Her training lasts six months, during which she confesses to having learned everything she needed and, above all, many things she had no knowledge of at all, allowing her to attract more clients. The training has enabled her to financially overcome and "sort out [her] little things."
In the future, she would like to have her own shop, larger than the one she works in today, to showcase objects and continue hairstyling. Above all, she wants to acquire equipment to work more quickly and do more interesting things because, for now, she works only with her hands.
